Two Weeks_Grizzly Bear (Buy it Here)
Well, it’s been almost fourteen days since my last post and I thought what better way to the mark the occasion then to feature Grizzly Bear’s latest greatest ‘Two Weeks’.
In all honesty, my infatuation for this tune first grew through my personal affection for its incredibly super-surreal, utlra slow-mo’ music video (perfectly executed and shot by director Patrick Daughters). Judge for yerself but i think this particular piece of artistic expression is otherworldly…almost belonging to that of another dimension entirely.
I guess it doesn’t hurt that the song is quite excellent in its own right. This tune is actually quite indicative of previous grandiose toils offered up by the progressive indie-rock outfit…most all of which are mired with lush arrangement and gorgeous accompanying harmonies. (See March Post ‘GRRR Go the Grizzly’).
It seems to me Grizzly Bear is a band whose craft continues to be well-cemented in that ever laborious pursuit towards musical perfection. Sometimes their product best manifest itself through process, often times they serve it better stripped… yet no matter how delivered I feel that Grizzly Bear is one of the few bands today who are continually pushing the boundaries in music’s evolution and not coming off too pretentious and boring in the process.
rah. rah. grrrr.
